This site represents about a year of preparation and stocking our virtual shelves so that we could bring the charm of 1980s school book fairs and the classic mall bookstores to those who remember it fondly and try and (again virtually) recreate just a little bit of that feeling for those who never had the chance to experience it the first time around. If you love quirky stationery, unique books, and the thrill of discovering rare finds, this site is made for you!

A Trip Back to the 80s School Book Fairs and Mall Bookstores

I don't know about you, but growing up, school book fairs were a highlight of the year. The unmatched excitement of getting that Troll order form, picking out my favorite books, and (when the fair came to the school physically) browsing through shelves filled with fun bookmarks, stickers, multi-color pens, and pencils. As I grew older, I realized that these fairs were more than just shopping events; they were a celebration of creativity and learning.

Mall bookstores in the 80s had a similar magic for me. They were cozy where you could spend hours exploring new titles and find journals to record my thoughts from the books I would read. The smell of fresh paper and the sight of bright covers created a welcoming atmosphere. These places inspired many of us to develop a lifelong love for reading and writing.

What you find on our site here represents the best of the best and my own personal go to Japanese stationary items. On the opposite end we also want to have a selection of just fun pens and pencils that spark joy,won't break the bank, and that you won't mind if it goes missing as it sparked joy for someone else as well.

• Interesting Books

Our site also features a selection of interesting and unique books that would be right at home at a school book fair or on the shelves at the mall bookstore. But yea, a lot of books on cats! We love cats and dogs (hence our logo!) We also loved Choose Your Own Adventures books and books where you are the Detective, so we'll se stocking a lot of those kinds of books as well.
